The Voice of Silence
Everything is born from chaos. To see, we must look. To hear, we must listen. But to see and hear the essentials, we must close our eyes, and dive into silence. If we let act upon us the vibrations of the music of silence, we discover, step by step, the whispering of a voice…. A voice from within. Like a lake, who only lets appear the beauty of it's surrounding landscape but when calm befalls it.
Some learn, others know. Indonesians and precisely Tibetans, master the art of producing silence with sound. It is with reason that Bali gongs as an example, influenced musical westerners as inspiring as Claude-Achille Debussy and Philip Glass. As for the song of the Tibetan bowls, it's effect on the body and soul is undeniable to all that lend a careful ear.
Other than the Bali Gamelan and numerous percussions of Tibet, the compositions presented here call upon the Japanese Shakuhachi, the Turkish Ney, the Hang Drum and a myriad of rare acoustic instruments. A good number of them of our own creation. But the goal is not to present here an eclectic collection of ethnic sonorities. At moments audio watercolor and others harmonic sculpture, this music has only one finality: drive you to silence. The silence that speaks.
